Coffee Grinders

Coffee lovers claim that freshly ground coffee is the only way to go.  They say that not only does it smell wonderful, but it also tastes absolutely wonderful as well.  In order to enjoy freshly ground coffee at home you are going to need to purchase a coffee grinder.  There may be some merit to the taste though, since it only takes a few minutes after the coffee is ground for it to begin to oxidize.  However, a coffee grinder will cost you $100 or more.  Nevertheless, people will tell you that once you have 1 of these machines there is no other way to go.
This information may lead you to wonder exactly how coffee is ground.  Well, there are a few different types of coffee grinders available for you to choose from.  Some of these coffee grinders have a blade, while others have a burr.  The difference here is that a coffee grinder that has a blade, which is shaped like a fan, that spins around and grinds up the coffee beans.  These are the less expensive types of coffee grinders but they will produce inconsistent grains, which are only good if you are going to be using an automatic drip coffee maker.  If you are going to use something else, then you are going to need to use a burr coffee grinder, which use either electricity or a hand-crank to crush your coffee beans in a consistent manner.
The type of coffee grinder that you purchase is irrelevant as long as it does the job that you want it to perform.  If you enjoy handling your coffee, then you might enjoy a hand-crank coffee grinder better.    These types of coffee grinders are also great if you would like to take them with you whenever you travel.  You also should remember to purchase a burr coffee grinder if you are going to want to make something such as espresso.  Otherwise the choice is yours, and yours alone.
